As an Ordinary Part of Daily Life:
Micro-Living in Japan and Hong Kong

Aysima Akın
This dissertation focuses on the micro-living trend, which has been on the rise especially for the last 10 years. It has been deepened on the question of whether the idea of micro-living is a choice that better suits people’s new habits or is it a necessity as people have to rethink and transform their lifestyle. The answers to the main question of the dissertation were sought through the example of Japan, which is known all over the world for its ingenious small space design solutions, and Hong Kong, which is one of the most densely populated places in the world and has incredibly small dwellings with inhumane living conditions.
